Profile: Dike Ugwu

               


Dike-Ugwu was born in Nigeria in 1937. The author left his formal education at the age of 25. Since then, he had continued with his informal education.
Once, he told a friend that now is the time to pick up on those bits of knowledge which he missed out on during his formal education. He has become a habitual reader and prolific writer respectively. From an early age, he showed an interest in both literature and poetry. In his secondary and university days, he was known as a great orator and debater.

The poet is an erudite scholar, and he had taught in various universities and polytechnics, both in Nigeria and the USA. This earned him a chair in Business Education. He is a contributor to many new anthologies poetry periodicals. Currently, he holds honoured memberships of many international organizations for contributions and participation in their workshops. His Lyrics, "Harvest Song", also featured in his recent lectures on history of Ahanjoku (New Yam Festival) commissioned by the Igbo Union of Great Britain.

Dike-Ugwu through his writings has bequeathed a legacy worthy of emulation not only to his country, but also to the world as a whole.
